20 Year Celebration – London to Derbyshire

Out of the ashes of redundancy arose an award winning Derbyshire Coaching and Management Development business that is Webb Development.  The founder, Jonathan Webb, started his business in London, but fifteen years ago moved it and his family to Ashbourne in Derbyshire.

This year, to celebrate twenty years in business, Jonathan brought London and Derbyshire together.  For over ten years he has run an annual management team event with Tower 42, one of his City of London based clients.  This year they enjoyed their event in the delightful Derbyshire countryside.

Jonathan ensured the team were kept busy with a variety of pursuits and discussions. Their first challenge was to build and sail rafts on Carsington Water and despite a chill wind was enjoyed by all. To warm up, Max, from “Max’s Indian Restaurant” in Bakewell shared some of his culinary secrets with the team, culminating in a delicious meal. Pete March and Elaine Hill of Derwent Pursuits skilfully organised a session of duck herding followed by an enlightening semaphore communication exercise.

Comments from Peter Merrett, Tower 42’s General Manager, expressed how successful the event had been, “I want to thank you and Rosemary for all your hard work and efforts in organising an extremely special Management Team Event.  The team were raving about your thoughtful approach, one of your many qualities that always makes an important difference to the development of the team.”

This success was also undoubtedly down to the use of superb local suppliers. The venue was Standlow Farm, part of Ashbourne Self-catering with its stunning views and tasteful accommodation. Ashbourne based Glover’s Coaches very efficiently provided transport when required and Ivan’s Butchers supplied first class meats in their usual friendly manner.
